The Animal Control Division provides regular service Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Officers are also on call for special emergency call-outs seven days per week. The function of Animal Control is to protect the public from stray, nuisance, and rabid animals. The division also investigates dangerous dog complaints. Adoption Information & Requirements
Fees for adoption are:
- For a pet that has already been spayed or neutered, it is $20.00 per dog and $15.00 per cat.
- For a pet that has not been spayed or neutered the fee is $40.00 per dog and $25.00 per cat.
Since the Animal Control Department does not actually spay or neuter, once you have adopted a non-sterilized pet and taken them to a licensed veterinarian you will be entitled to a $20.00 refund on dogs and $10.00 refund on cats. The veterinarian must sign the appropriate form and the procedure must be done within 30 days of the adoption to be eligible for the partial refund.
